SHE'S DONE!

Yes, it required yelling.

It took forever, but she's finally done. I think she turned out great. A couple spots didn't come out quite the way I'd like, but I'm happy with her. I almost wish I had bought a third RCon 08 Sophie so I could do another one of these without the wings. Enough talk, here's the pics.

Here's some other stuff I finished along the way: some GZG Kivruzh medium grav tanks (finally looked up what they were called), rebased Dana Murphy (before on crappy round Sculpey base, after on square Litko base), and an LE Minotaur based for use in Warlord and given a Brown Liner wash.

If you want to see Dana with her original crappy paint job go here.

Now back to cranking out gaming pieces.

More Crappy WIP shots

I know, they aren't the best quality, but I'm not digging out the light tent for WIP shots. Anyway, the main body is done, all that's left are some minor details on the wings, some gluing, some sealing, and I believe she's done.

And we're off

Finished applying the first coat of paint to Sophie today. Nothing spectacular in this shot, just showing progress. I might make some more progress on her tonight or Monday, but tomorrow I'm going for a motorcycle ride through the hills.

Get your motor runnin'

Alright, the bike and the base are done!

Sophie's wings have been basecoated with MSP Leather Brown and are waiting for me to pick appropriate shade and highlight colors. I've decided that her jacket and hat will be black, just need to decide on colors for her hair and what little clothing remains.

I may need to grab a small figure to do as a side project so I feel like I'm getting something accomplished.

Don't Mess With Texas

The bike is almost done. Just need to paint the headlight, I'm thinking Ghost White, and touch up some dark lining. I will probably finish the base next so I can go ahead and fix the bike to it. That and to be honest, I'm still figuring out colors for Sophie.

Got Some Paint on the Bike

Alrighty then. Got some paint on the motorcycle now. There's a lot I don't like about this sculpt, but compared to what's out there, it's what I have to work with. The first few shots are of the bike with the tires and metallic parts as well as the base with the initial coats of paints. The tires are MSP Stormy Gray and the chrome is MSP Polished Silver. I should've waited to buy some wicked chrome paint that was pointed out to me, but I'm impatient and have a lot of other projects I want to get to. The base shows what is supposed to the shoulder of a back country road and some dirt. When I get back to them I'll had a white stripe along the edge of the road and some flock to the dirt.

Here we are after some more painting. You can see that I've attacked everything with some watered down MSP Pure Black and started on the tank and fender with MSP Pure White and True Blue. One of the things I don't like about this is that the pegs and handlebars suck, so I'm going to try to paint some detail on them. Nothing fancy, just trying to depict rubber on them.

Hopefully by the end of the day I'll have some red and some stars on there. Just trying to figure out how I'm going to tackle the rear fender.

She's primed and ready to roll

Suffereing from a severe lack of spray primer I resorted to brush-on primer. Usually I'll use that through my airbrush, but I didn't want to mess around with taking everything to the garage. Good thing I didn't, I had to work to get enough out of the bottle to prime this project. I generally don't like brushing on primer because I get real paranoid about bubbles and getting enough on and not obscuring detail...you get the idea. Anyway, hopefully the first bits of paint will be going on tonight.

Progress on Biker Chick Sophie

I reworked the rear fender and the rear tire with some greenstuff. I really hate greenstuff, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I also played around with bending and twisty her arm to get a better pose and added a brass rod kickstand. Turns out the base most likely won't ship till next week even though I ordered it last week. But for now these parts are ready for paint, but probably won't get to that for a while. I have some 1:1 scale painting that needs to be done.

Enough babbling, here's the pics

I Really Shouldn't Be Doing This

But the idea is just too cool to not. That and as with most of my ideas, it's better to strike while the iron is hot else the idea languish and be done by somebody else.

What am I babbling about you may ask. This:

I call her Biker Chick Sophie. Take one ReaperCon 2008 Sopie minus the bomb, add one motorcycle from West Wind's "Road Kill" and you have Biker Chick Sophie. The wings wouldn't stick so just pretend there's a pair of leathery wings on her back. Planned changes are to get rid of the base under the motor, tilt the front wheel to the left, sculpt on a kick stand, and get her feet to reach the ground. Oh yeah, and learn how to paint SENMM so I can paint the bike like this. The seat may get ground out and resculpted into a single seat rather than two separate seats to make it easier to get Sophie's feet on the ground, but we'll see.

Right now the two things I'm contemplating are: wings on or off, and the skull on the headlight bone or chrome. Right now I want the wings on, but am tempted to leave them off and putty in the mounting points on her back. The skull I'm undecided on. Chrome would look awesome, but be a major pain. Especially seeing as how I've never done NMM or SENMM before. On the other hand you don't improve by always taking the easy way.
